Refreshing Change

Now I am not one to moan, but when you have a group of guests who have never dived in the Red Sea before you suddenly see your back yard through fresh eyes again.
We had one such group this week, and what a refreshing change is was to hear their comments as they came out of the water. Now I know it is winter, so ok most of the sharks (but not all!)have gone south for the hols and maybe some of the fish are a little smaller than in the summer, but we still have some really quite fantastic diving here and I was reminded of that this week.
To hear people raving about the coral and the colours and fish after even the most gentle of local dives is really invigorating. And the comments made as the guests jumped in on the garden of Jackson Reef were fantastic. It reminded me of how lucky I am to be living and diving in such an amazing place. All too often we get the odd person who comes out here (usually from a cold and wet place) and loudly announces in front of a boat load of other divers “Oh I hate that dive site! It is soooo dull!” When in reality none of our dive sites are really really dull… especially any site in Tiran or Ras Mohammed. I can understand some stand out more than others. However this week I did not have this situation, every dive site brought renewed exclamations of awe and reminded me to really look at what I am seeing more often. What a great week.
