So, despite our best efforts to avoid it, there is no other way to get married here in Egypt, other than coming to the big smoke, Cairo and go through a legal series of hoops that is about as romantic as getting a visa renewed.

So here we are, and had it not been for the fact that George is on crutches and in pain, it has all gone pretty smoothly.

After three days of filling in forms, getting them stamped at various offices (that looked more like bus stations than official headquarters) and a hilarious morning today spent at the office of foreign affairs (complete carnage) we are officially married and now merely need to collect and legalise the certificate in a week’s time. The event itself was comedy, with us sat there in front of some legal guy, two women having a huge argument over our heads, others shoving papers at the legal man to sign, all while he is trying to confirm our names and our parents’ names etc… I just hope he got the names right. We had to add our finger prints to the 5 copies of the contract, no actual signatures on our part. Kind of bizarre.

Sadly after a couple of snap shots our next stop was to the clinic to get blood tests as George goes into hospital on Saturday to hopefully fix his knee!
