Aghhhh am on dry land once again…!
I guess I shouldn’t be too stressed as I have now got a mini break booked… yes we go away on trips too, even when we live in a holiday destination. So… Taba it is, to lie on a beach for a few days, and maybe do a little shopping in Eilat… never been to Israel before, so that will be a novelty.
But as for the sea at the moment, it is heaving! A whale shark was seen off Shark’s Bay the day before yesterday, and yesterday the wall of snapper was vast (be it in a different location to normal) really was Vaaaast. Of course with vast walls of snappers comes the big things and they saw a big white tip shark on the crossing to Anenome City (reversed current).. I’m not jealous at all!!!

So I finally get the thousandth dive logged… ok I’m not really counting much anymore but that is a bit of a landmark, so guess I should recognise it. It was actually the last dive for a referral course I was teaching, which turned out to be quite good fun so that was good.
Ok I didn’t do it naked, but Amr did do his bit to help me freeze my tits off by catching me mid-dive and opening the ankle seals of my wetsuit to flush all the nice warm water out replacing it with the chilly stuff. Ok I am exaggerating, it is not exactly arctic here.
Having said that though, I did fun dive in Tiran yesterday and it was bizzarrely a chilly 23ºC brrrr. I guess there must have been some random current coming either down from the north or up from the depths. Cool dive though, I saw two free-swimming morays, and Jackson reef is just soooooo pretty.

So two dives away from my thousandth dive and I am still landlocked!
Firstly yesterday I had the wonderful trip up to El Tor to renew my visa, actually I can’t complain as this time I was accompanied by one of the hotel office staff who with the help of a few hand-shakes, back slaps and ’sabah el fol’s in the right place turned what is usually a two hour drag into a nifty 15mins in and out session. As they always say, ‘it’s not who you know’ etc…
And then today I am in the office once again. I guess it is all good experience, and certainly a good plan b for those days when the ears just put a spanner in the diving works, but when the sun is out, and sharks kicking around, the sea is where I would rather be.

So even further from the sea than ever today… I am in the office!!!
The temptation is sooo great, as June is the start of the shark season. Already the rumours are rife, sharks seen off Temple! Even sharks having been fished by the local fishermen (not so good! Let’s hope that is just the Sharm grapevine getting carried away with itself)
But for now, I can only dream of jumping in on a Ras Mo reef. No doubt I will get my moment one week soon. Here’s hoping…
