So I was on Shark and Yolande the other day in the middle of one of my most awesome dives (we had a humping current in reverse so had dropped on the satellite reef, seen napoleon wrasses, turtles, morays, the lot and ended up being spat out onto anenome city) however the sadly memorable moment of the dive was when I looked for the pedals on the mashed up car sitting amongst the cargo remains of the Yolande. They had gone!!! I always point these out on a dive to my guests as they are about the only bit together with a single tyre that shows that it definitely is a car sat down there. Now I could be wrong and there have been a few storms, but I am sure that none were strong enough to snap these pedals off. So the other option is a diver. I am guessing that on someone’s mantlepiece somewhere in the world, now sits the brake and clutch pedals from this wreck. How sad that someone can be so selfish. It is as bad as nicking a big chunk of coral. Anyway, that is my rant for the day. I know I am preaching to the converted here, but please when you dive, remember that there are other divers following you and we don’t want to ruin things for them too. Only the other week I caught someone ripping one of the gear levers off a motorcycle on the Thistlegorm. After a few hasty signals, he did drop it, however I was suddenly very aware of the fact that we were underwater inside a wreck and he was very much bigger than me! Have a good day’s diving.
